2022 Honda Insight for Sale in West Warwick, RI
You might think of the 2022 Honda Insight as the “sweet spot” between the larger Accord and smaller Civic. But there’s so much more to it, since you get all the benefits of a hybrid powertrain inside the body of a sleek sedan: the Insight is one of the most fuel-efficient cars out there. Today’s Insight is part of the third generation of a nameplate that we first heard at the tail end of 1999. That’s when the Insight became the first mass-produced gas-electric hybrid car to hit the U.S., just beating the Toyota Prius to market. That original version was a two-seater that more or less looked like a spaceship – fitting for a vehicle that truly represented the future at the time.
Now, for the 2022 model year, the Insight’s looks don’t immediately peg it as an alternative-fuel car. And that makes sense, too, as hybrids and EVs are on their way to outnumbering conventional combustion-engine vehicles. The base LX has also been dropped off the Insight’s lineup of trims. In addition to the standard warranty terms, Honda covers the Insight’s hybrid battery for 8 years/100,000 miles.
Trims and Powertrain
The simplified trim lineup for the five-passenger 2022 Insight consists of the EX and Touring. They each have a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor with a combined output of 151 horsepower and 197 lb.-ft. of torque; the transmission is a single-speed, continuously variable transmission (CVT). The EPA-estimated fuel economy for this front-wheel-drive hybrid sedan is 55 mpg in the city and 49 mpg on the highway for the EX and 51 city/45 highway for the Touring.
Standard Equipment by Trim Level
The EX is equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting with automatic on/off, keyless entry/start with remote start, automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system, rear-seat heat/AC ducts, an electronic parking brake, tilt and telescoping steering column, active noise cancelling, and a 60/40 split-folding rear seatback.
The Touring adds leather seating, moonroof, eight-way power driver’s seat, four-way power front passenger seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic dimming review mirror, rain-sensing variable-speed windshield wipers, LED fog lights, and heated power side mirrors in body color with LED turn-signal indicators.
Either trim can be ordered with 17-inch dark chrome alloy wheels. Other than appearance and protection packages, there are no other factory options for the 2022 Insight.
Safety & Technology
Every Insight comes with the Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver-aid technologies. This includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic monitor.
The Insight’s infotainment system has an 8-inch color touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming capability, SiriusXM satellite radio, and dual USB ports. The Touring adds navigation and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Connectivity with HondaLink is included for app-based emergency help and vehicle diagnostics. The two trims get different sound systems: the EX has an eight-speaker, 180-watt unit and the Touring upgrades to a premium 450 -watt system.
