The 2023 CR-V has a streamlined trim lineup that consists of the EX and EX-L (a hybrid version is available with Sport and Sport Touring trims, but we’ll cover it in a separate overview). The turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine makes 190 hp and 179 lb.-ft. of torque and is coupled to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that feeds the standard front-wheel drivetrain (all-wheel drive is available). According to the official EPA fuel economy ratings, the FWD CR-V returns an estimated 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. With AWD, it achieves 27 city/32 highway. The vehicle’s maximum towing capacity is 1,500 pounds.
With just two trims offered for the gas-only CR-V, the base EX gets a lot of features, starting with LED headlights and taillights, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, a moonroof, and heated front seats. It also has rear privacy glass, proximity entry (Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock), push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, ambient center console lighting, two 12-volt power outlets, two front console USB ports (one USB-C charging and one USB data), illuminated vanity mirrors, and a 60/40-split fold-down rear seatback with a center armrest and cupholders. The EX-L adds leather upholstery, front and rear parking sensors, a power liftgate, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, position memory for the driver’s seat, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, and a wireless phone charger.
The Honda Sensing suite of advanced driving aids is issued in every 2023 CR-V. Its technologies include forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, and low-speed braking control. Although a rear seat reminder isn’t officially a component of Honda Sensing, it’s provided as a separate standard feature.
The CR-V welcomes two all-new infotainment setups for 2023. The EX gets a 7-inch touchscreen system with Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, and an SMS text messaging assistant. The EX-L gets upgraded to a 9-inch touchscreen that includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, HD radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, and an eight-speaker sound system.
