2025 Honda Civic Hatchback Hero

The Honda Civic has been America’s best-selling compact car since 1973.* In recent years, the five-door body style, the Civic Hatchback, has played a major role in this supreme retail record, and the 2025 model is sure to continue the nameplate’s run with its first-ever hatchback hybrid. Two of this model’s three trims carry Honda’s innovative hybrid system, not only making it more fuel-efficient than the 2024 version, but also making it the most powerful Civic not named Type R. And speaking of Honda’s hot hatch, the 2025 Civic Hatchback has a new, aggressive front fascia that borrows styling cues from its Type R sibling. In addition to refreshed interior and exterior designs, there are three new paint choices: Silver Metallic, Urban Gray Pearl, and Sand Dune Pearl—exclusive to the ‘25 Civic Hatchback.

Honda recently announced that it has refined the Civic’s already excellent ride comfort by optimizing the hybrid trims’ damper and spring tuning, and that its new tires were specially designed for the 5-door. But that’s not the only noteworthy enhancement: Honda has also increased the visibility of its collision mitigation braking system to better detect pedestrians, motorcycles, and bicyclists, and the blind-spot information system with rear cross-traffic monitor is now standard on all trims. Finally, the top Sport Touring Hybrid is the first Civic to come equipped with the Google built-in feature, which includes a complimentary 3-year unlimited data plan.

Trims and Powertrains

The 2025 Civic Hatchback comes to you in three trim packages and a pair of powertrains. As the base trim, the Sport has a 150-horsepower, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid are set up with two electric motors, a 2.0L 4-cylinder, and an electronic CVT. This hybrid system will return up to 200 horsepower and 232 lb.-ft. of torque. In terms of fuel economy, the gasoline-only Sport achieves an EPA-estimated 30 mpg around town and 38 mpg on the highway, while the hybrid powertrain grabs attention with an estimated 50 mpg city/45 mpg highway. Every trim comes with front-wheel drive and a drive-mode selector with settings for Normal, Sport, and Econ; the Sport Touring Hybrid adds a mode called Individual.

Standard Features

Regardless of the trim package, all ‘25 Civic Hatchbacks have remote start, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated power side mirrors, a security system with remote entry, Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock, a headlights-on reminder, sport pedals, a reversible cargo cover, two USB ports, a 12-volt power outlet, and LED lighting (auto on/off headlights, daytime running lights, taillights, and brake lights). The Sport gets a 7-inch driver information interface, cloth upholstery, a leather shift knob, and automatic climate control.

The upgrades to the Sport Hybrid are a second zone for the automatic climate control, heated front seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a power moonroof. The Sport Touring Hybrid adds matte Shark Gray inserts to its wheels, LED turn signals to the side mirrors, and a rain-sensing feature to the windshield wipers. It also gets a 10.2-inch driver information interface, leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a wireless phone charger, a 4-way power-adjustable passenger’s seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Advanced Safety Tech

Honda’s global safety initiative, “Safety for Everyone,” is front and center onboard every ‘25 Civic Hatchback thanks to the Honda Sensing suite. The following driver-assist technologies and advanced safety features are standard: adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, auto high-beam headlights, blind spot information, collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, rear cross-traffic monitor, road departure mitigation, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition. The Sport Touring Hybrid enhances its collision prevention with parking sensors (front/rear) and low-speed braking control.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The Sport and Sport Hybrid have a 7-inch color touchscreen, a 180-watt stereo system with eight speakers, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink and streaming audio, a radio data system, Google built-in, Alexa built-in, SMS text messaging, and HondaLink. The Sport Touring Hybrid is augmented with a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless versions of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and a 9-inch color touchscreen that has customizable feature settings, smart shortcuts, and a volume knob.
