2026 Honda Passport Hero

The redesigned Honda Passport is making its groundbreaking debut, marked by greater performance, updated style, and additional technology. This midsized crossover technically begins its fourth generation, with the first two generations spanning from 1994 to 2002, when the Passport was the mechanical sibling to the Isuzu Rodeo. The Passport as we now recognize it came to be in 2019, when the nameplate was reborn as a two-row, adventure-focused alternative to the Pilot.

The 2026 Passport’s updated design is a testament to its adventuresome spirit, with a rugged and purposeful look that doesn’t sacrifice refinement. It’s built on Honda’s durable light-truck platform, but its toughness isn’t just about what you see on the outside. It shares its predecessor’s 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 285 horsepower (an increase of 5 hp) and 262 lb.-ft. of torque, and it can tow as much as 5,000 pounds. A new 10-speed automatic transmission has replaced the 2025 model’s 9-speed transmission, and the re-tuned suspension boasts updated front MacPherson struts and a new rear multilink setup. Honda has also supplemented the original snow, sand, and mud traction control options with normal, economy, sport, tow, and trail modes, while equipping higher trims with all-terrain tires and an off-road tuned suspension.

Built around a “Born Wild” concept that blends form with function, this latest Passport is one of Honda’s most capable vehicles yet. It’s wider and has higher ground clearance and significantly higher approach angles with aggressively flared fenders and trail-ready 18-inch wheels with 31-inch tires that command attention on and off the pavement. Honda also added the TrailSport Elite trim level (more on that below) and the widest range of factory accessories to date, including a full-sized spare tire, a front scuff plate, steel rock sliders, and a roof platform.

While it’s built to be more capable than ever, this all-new Passport also retains the everyday practicality that has made it a favorite for families and adventure enthusiasts alike. Redesigned taillights and a sporty roof spoiler add to its dynamic appearance, and an ingenious and practical “backpack” design allows owners to lean skis, fishing rods, and other outdoor gear against the vehicle without risk of damage. The TrailSport trims introduced a game-changing feature: powder-coated front and rear recovery hooks that resist corrosion and are engineered to break away safely in the event of a forward collision.

The ‘26 Passport also offers the most cargo space in the model’s history, with up to 83.8 cubic feet behind the first row and 44 cu. ft. behind the second. An enlarged underfloor storage bin, two side cargo bins, two-tier door bins, and a large console offer clever storage solutions, with available accessories like customizable MOLLE panels and a tailgate shelf that doubles as a portable picnic table.

Trims and Powertrain

The 2026 Passport has seven trim levels: RTL, RTL Towing, RTL Blackout, TrailSport, TrailSport Blackout, TrailSport Elite, and TrailSport Elite Blackout (the EX-L and Black Edition have been dropped). All of them have the aforementioned 3.5-liter V6 (output: 285 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque) paired with an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Honda’s second-generation Intelligent Variable Torque Management (i-VTM4) all-wheel-drive system is standard, supplying exceptional traction and stability through rear-axle torque vectoring. Thanks to a drive-mode selector with settings for Normal, Econ, Sport, Snow, Tow, Trail, and Sand Drive modes, the Passport is ready for any weather. All trims have a 5,000 lb. towing capacity and are equipped with trailer stability assist, which helps reduce vehicle movement during towing.
