2026 Honda CR-V Hybrid Hero

Model year 2026 means a mid-cycle refresh for the CR-V Hybrid, led by additional standard tech and an expanded lineup as the model gets its first TrailSport trim. This off-road version was previously only found on the Pilot and Passport SUVs and the Ridgeline pickup. It stands apart with its rugged front end, skid plate garnish, TrailSport badging and embroidery, and all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels.

Keeping pace with its non-hybrid counterpart, for 2026 the CR-V Hybrid gives every trim a larger infotainment touchscreen (expanding from seven to nine inches), includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity, and makes wireless smartphone charging standard, whereas these were all previously reserved for the higher trims (Sport-L and Sport Touring). The 2026 iteration also equips all-wheel-drive (AWD) models with an improved brake traction control system, and the TrailSport, Sport-L, and Sport Touring also upgrade to a 10.2-inch gauge display.

New bells and whistles aside, the CR-V Hybrid continues to offer the practicality and convenience of Honda’s ever-popular compact SUV with enhanced efficiency – up to 43 mpg – thanks to two electric motors. The CR-V Hybrid’s dual-motor hybrid powertrain produces an extra 14 horsepower (204 total), giving it an edge over its gas-only sibling.

Trims and Powertrain

Drivers shopping for a ’26 CR-V Hybrid have the choice of four trims: Sport, TrailSport, Sport-L, and Sport Touring. The inline 4-cylinder engine (which produces 145 horsepower on its own) and two electric motors (generating 247 lb.-ft. of torque) net 204 combined horsepower and are paired with an electronic continuously variable transmission (E-CVT) with b-range shift and deceleration selectors. The Sport and Sport-L lead the lineup in fuel economy, achieving 43 mpg city and 36 mpg highway with their standard front-wheel drivetrain (FWD). This dips to 40 city/34 highway with the available real-time all-wheel drive (AWD) and Intelligent Control System. The Sport Touring comes only with AWD and matches the lower trims’ fuel economy in that drivetrain, while the AWD-only TrailSport returns 38 city/33 highway.

All trims have a fuel-conserving idle-stop function and a 1,000-pound towing capacity. Every CR-V Hybrid comes with a drive-mode selector—the three lower trims offer Sport, Normal, Econ, and Snow settings, joined by the driver-customizable Individual mode on the Sport Touring.
